Temporal explosion: the need for new approaches in interpreting and managing geochronology data
نویسنده
چکیده
Recent analytical improvements have provided a new wave of geochronology data, but developments in understanding of the analytical process and the application of statistically robust interpretative/visualisation tools have lagged. Some tools are emerging, but there is a strong need for further development. A fundamental concern is simply how to manage the volumes of data now being acquired. Work has begun on developing a standard for the exchange of geochronology data using XML technology within the framework of other standard developments in Australian geosciences. However, a caveat in both the development of tools and standards is that they must be usable and must be accompanied by sufficient education to enable regular use.

Norm Conflict Resolution in Stochastic Domains
Artificial agents will need to be aware of human moral and social norms, and able to use them in decision-making. In particular, artificial agents will need a principled approach to managing conflicting norms, which are common in human social interactions. Existing logic-based approaches suffer from normative explosion and are typically designed for deterministic environments; reward-based appr...
متن کاملA Hybrid Meta-heuristic Approach to Cope with State Space Explosion in Model Checking Technique for Deadlock Freeness
Model checking is an automatic technique for software verification through which all reachable states are generated from an initial state to finding errors and desirable patterns. In the model checking approach, the behavior and structure of system should be modeled. Graph transformation system is a graphical formal modeling language to specify and model the system. However, modeling of large s...
متن کاملMINING FUZZY TEMPORAL ITEMSETS WITHIN VARIOUS TIME INTERVALS IN QUANTITATIVE DATASETS
This research aims at proposing a new method for discovering frequent temporal itemsets in continuous subsets of a dataset with quantitative transactions. It is important to note that although these temporal itemsets may have relatively high textit{support} or occurrence within particular time intervals, they do not necessarily get similar textit{support} across the whole dataset, which makes i...
متن کاملOligocene partial melting in the Takab metamorphic complex, NW Iran: Evidence from in situ U-Pb geochronology
U-Pb ages obtained on zircons from the investigated migmatites place new constraints on the evolution of the crustal rocks in the Takab area. SHRIMP U-Pb dating of inherited zircon in the melanosome parts of mafic migmatites from the Takab complex gives a discordant age with an upper intercept of 2961±72 Ma (MSWD=0.5) and a lower intercept of 24.2±5.7 Ma (MSWD=1.7). In the concordia diagram, th...
متن کاملBarley Productivity Decomposition in Iran: Comparison of TT, GI, MGI, and GTTI Approaches
In this paper, the authors present new indices for estimating technical change, return to scale, and TFP growth, as well as its decomposition. These indices, Modified General Index (MGI), Generalized Modified General Index (GMGI), and General Time Trend index (GTTI), are generalization of General Index approaches. These approaches were used for productivity decomposition of Iran's barely produc...
